After already rebuilding my tape deck once here; http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generation-maxima-1995-1999/619780-non-bose-facelift.html, my tape deck/adapter died two days ago while listening to Pandora. The tape would not play or eject, so I tore it apart and proceeded to hard wire a cable for plugging in my phone. The install was going OK yesterday, but I caused a short and let the smoke out of a transistor or voltage regulator. I was resigned to being SOL for a good while.
Well yesterday my wife had to go to Walmart for work and when she was there she picked me up a DUAL XDM260 CD/MP3/WMA, USB, front Auxiliary receiver for $49.97. She also got me the Scosche harness NN032 from Wal*Mart and BEST Kits and Harnesses BAA9 antenna adapter from the local stereo shop.
Had the harness adapter soldered up and stereo installed in about one hour total. This was my first time installing a DIN stereo using the OEM brackets, that sleeve and domestic vehicles can die in a fire, this was SO easy, it fit like a glove. Sound is good with stock type speakers (my deck speakers were NIB replacements from Goodwill for CHEAP). I would recommend this CD receiver for anyone just looking to replace a stock tape deck.
Old tape deck
New receiver
