Would it be advisable to use a 15W-50 synthetic blend like Exxon Elite in an engine that has run halfway to TBO on Aeroshell W100? Specifically I am talking about Continental C-90, O-200 and O-300 engines that use the same "small-bore" cylinder.

Their is no reason that you can not switch from a conventional ashless disspersant aviation spec. mineral lube to a semi-synthetic aviation specific lube.

The W100 will give you better engine life at a lot lower cost, about $22 a case at Sam's. You can't beat 25 hour changes and 50 hours on filters. Avoid lean-of -peak at all costs; I like 150 degrees rich of peak to minimize valve and cylinder problems.
