For the moment, this is what kills us in USA> Note, Ebola is not on there yet, so we're good to go, no worries mate, no worries.

If you're on a 2nd story apartment and there are flames coming through your floorboards, do you stand there pouring cups of water on it or do you march downstairs and take care of the fire at the origin?

Its all good we have a new Ebola czar! A highly trained and knowledgeable political friggin hack. JHC what is wrong with these lunatics.

Again, the leading "killers" in this county are fairly static and that is good. Imagine if sever CAD (coronary artery disease) was as aggressive and infectious as a Biosafety level 4 pathogen.

I'm thinking a pest control specialist would've been better than a lawyer.

Here you go:

Quote:
Obama also discussed the possibility of a travel ban from the five West African countries where the outbreak began. He said that while he doesn't have a "philosophical objection" to such a ban, he has been advised against it by health experts.

“History shows that there is a likelihood of increased avoidance (that could lead to) more cases rather than less,” Obama said. “The problem is that - in all the discussions that I’ve had thus far with experts in the field, experts in infectious disease… a travel ban is less effective than the measures that we are currently instituting.”

Okay, now I've heard a stupid reason...somehow, this doesn't surprise me...

And why do we name agency heads czars? This isn't Russia...

Actually, the word "czar" originated in Russia...

From the article:
Quote:
"The government of Belize reassures the public that the passenger never set foot in Belize and while we remain in close contact with U.S. officials we have maintained the position that when even the smallest doubt remains, we will ensure the health and safety of the Belizean people," the government said in a press release.

The statement added that the passenger is "considered of very low risk for Ebola,” but "nonetheless, out of an abundance of caution, the Government of Belize decided not to facilitate a U.S. request for assistance in evacuating the passenger through the Phillip Goldson International Airport.”

What a contrast to how our own gubmint is 'protecting' us.

Maybe our proven mediocre health care system will keep other foreigners from sneaking over here high on Advil for treatment.

This incubation period is something I have been thinking about also. The data from WHO has been more accurate than the CDC 10x10 so far. If indeed the incubation period is double what the CDC thinks it is, the problem of identifying those infected has gone up exponentially.
