Finally decided to do it right and remove these things and give them a proper cleaning. My go-to currently is Maguires All Wheel cleaner - about $10/bottle at Walmart...works amazing. Coat front/back/barrel with this stuff, turns purple, spritz with water, get after it with a variety of brushes with soapy water. Finally coating with some Maguires ceramic product. Turned out better than I expected. These are the 2-piece "Madra" VW wheels made by BBS that came factory on my '03 Passat W8 that were part of the "sport package"....probably my favorite VW wheel. 17x7.5 et45 with 225/45/17 Nitto Neogen tires. Just need to get the old wheel weight adhesive off now....Goo Gone.

Just did this on my wife's car while I had it up on the quickjacks for undercoating and rotation. Very satisfying process.

I like to do a coat of sealant on the barrels while I have them off. I doubt it lasts long but I figure anything helps.

The "Madras" (as they're are called in Europe) wheels are some of my personal favourites.

It's quite similar to "Montreal II" (6,5x16) that where sold on Golf Mk4s, Boras and
Polos. Also made by BBS, but one-piece. My girlfriend had them on her Golf TDI.
