Is there a reasonably priced Data Logger out there that will record things like vehicle speed, rpm, and throttle position that would plug into your data port and be able to be downloaded onto a laptop? Might be fun to see how your kid is driving your car as well as for other research.

Do you have an old Android phone or iPhone with Bluetooth that you could just leave in the car, plugged in for charging? You can buy a cheap ELM327-based OBD Bluetooth dongle on Amazon ($10-$15), and use an app like Torque Pro or Dash Command ($0-$10). It'd take more work to set up and get data from vs. a plug-and-play solution, but it's probably the cheapest way to get all the data you want.
