Commonsense...why do we still use that term when it doesn't exist anymore?

Simple, you ring the bell for the office if you have a pickup. Not bang on a dock door like an idiot expecting an answer. Signs are everywhere, reading is fundamental so why make a simple task so difficult by being an obtuse fool on purpose? You can speak English and read it well so I ask again. why?

The ontological nature of verbal communication has always been. Earliest humans strung together series of grunts and vocalizations that had meaning to the ears of others. This was augmented with hand and facial gestures. Eventually it evolved into written language first by wall picture art then more complicated hieroglyphics. The language tree branched off until we have western varieties and the rest.

Why is language made so obtuse? Perhaps one of two reasons. Either the speaker/writer doesn't know what he's talking about and wants to hide his ignorance or he understands the nature and truthfulness of his communication and wants to hide that.

If you are sensitive to the evolution of language and live long enough to see the change it will become obvious that the path is not linear but circular.

There are no shortage of people who claim common sense...

"It takes a heap of sense to write good nonsense."

MARK TWAIN (1835-1910).
