Why don’t you tell us the make , model, engine and driving style. “I got a car” means nothing to me.Hello,
I got a car with some dark oil and I think it wasn't treated well, i.e. oil not always replaced on time and sometimes out of spec oil was used, and now the oil looks dark and I assume some dirt has accumulated.
I was thinking that in the next year I'll do more oil changes.
Instead of once a year, then maybe 2 or even 3 times to try to get the oil to be more clear again.
But is it ok? Or changing too many times is also not good?
Thanks
Haha nooo you will knowAnd we will never know
This sounds like you just got the car and haven't done an oil service yet, but noticed the oil is dark. If this is the case, I would do a normal oil & filter service and keep an eye on it (check the oil every 150-200 miles).Hello,

Anti wear additives washed off......A few previous threads on this topic. Perhaps an answer may be found there:
Frequent oil changes cause more wear?!
I was looking at a few BMW and Mercedes forums and some people say that short drain intervals will cause more wear because the antiwear additives need time to cling to the surfaces and are washed off with "too frequent" oil changes. I'm not advocating unnecessarily short OCIs but if there's...bobistheoilguy.comCan one change oil too often?
For engine oil, I have gotten the idea from reading BITOG that the most wear occurs right after an oil change because the new oil removes the good film built up on the engine parts. So it seems like one would not want to change the oil till it went somewhat close to its worn out state and then...bobistheoilguy.comchanging your oil too often will harm your engine

First of all before I start this I want to apologize if I sound dumb, my english is not very good.
