Looks like the pleat spacing is slightly closer together on the new filter though. It also looks like the pleats themselves are a bit wider because of how they are folded.
Air filter COO's are a [censored]. Aftermarket filters for my unique applications are either Mexican or Chinese made... and the OEM's are Chinese at 3x the price.
I bought a Mann for her Volvo and was pretty bummed to see it be Mexican made. Very different construction compared to the German Mann I put in the A4 too. The German Mann also had 2 beads of glue over the pleats to keep them from moving.
