Best C30/VW507 oil for towing with high temps

A few of you have mentioned lowering the coolant concentration, but this will only lower coolant temps, correct? Coolant temps don't budge and stay right at 200F. It's the oil temps that worry me. Guess I'll just slow down a bit :cautious:

No, it increases the amount of calories that the oil to coolant interchanger can transfer. It takes twice as much calories to heat up water vs straight coolant. If the coolant temerature stays rock solid, the oil cooler is limited in capacity.

It also increases the amount of heat the engine radiator can shed, aswell as lower the coolant viscosity so coolant pumps faster. And lastly, it decreases the surface temps in the cylinder heads and around the pistons a few degrees as the nucleate boiling temp drops.

All in, less anti-freeze is a good thing provided you have enough (and refresh in time) to prevent corrosion and freezing.
