I'm interested in these tyres in 205/50R17 ize. Anybody using them here? specifically interested how they perform on snow and ice, + sleet. Not too bothered with dry or wet surfaces, my summer tyres are perfect for that kind of use.
I have used them in the past and they are one of my favorite snow tires as they do better on dry pavement than most snow tires and last longer.
They are a better snow than ice tire and are great in the snow. They are somewhat better on ice but not as much as some of the softer tires with more sipes that wear out more quickly. Depends on how much ice driving you really need to do. I try to avoid driving in icy conditions. Studded tires do better on ice.
We used them on the Grand Am we just sold. They handled much better than all-seasons in the snow, for sure. I do not really have much in the way of other snow tires to compare them to, as they're the first snow tires we ever bought. We used to always just use all-seasons, so other brands may be better... but these worked fine for us.
sounds not too bad, I don't expect to be driving much on snow, so was planning to change the tyres as soon as snow is forecast. But if these are good on dry pavement aswell, I might just change as soon as it gets cold enough.
If I plan on going to Germany, I need winter tyres regardless of the weather though. first day of snow in my locale this winter now... possibly snow again tomorrow morning.
currently I have 2 dunlop winter sport 3D SST mounted, that I had about, these hum like a worn bearing aswell. I noticed, the wife didn't. Must not be too bad then.

studded tyres are a no-go, they're pretty much not allowed here.
These seem a lot better than 4 season tyres, but still work great when there's no snow. Could use them all winter long in that case, regardless of conditions....
I had a previous generation Weathermaster in tiny 175/70/13. They did fine. Can't comment on if they kept up with current tech. I'd survey parking lots around you to get some ideas of local popularity.
