About to try 3d 521 Glass polish and their pads

I am going to try buffing a windshield on my F150, it has a lot of wiper scratches to a point it should be replaced.

I bought the 3D 521 glass polish and their dedicated pads. My question is I do not have a rotary at the moment, and was wondering if a 6MM short throw or a 21MM long throw DA would work better?

I used a cerium oxide compound from Amazon. I was surprised that it took a LOT of power and created a lot of heat on the widow glass. Be careful of the heat. Not sure how the 3D 521 will react though.
