Thanks gentlemen. I appreciate your insights and this forum. My skills and life expectancy are limited so here’s my Rube Goldberg. The Versa is my beater, back and forth to my crossing guard gig. Sole driver 99% of the time. The defective actuator is drivers side rear. Only grinds on locking, not on opening. As aforementioned I’ve disabled 10 MPH auto lock to eliminate that annoying auto lock door grind. Each door(it’s the 4 door sedan)does have a manual lock mechanism. So I can manually keep 3 doors locked and use the manual door lock on the driver door to lock the car at the end of the day. Just set the manual lock and shut the door. Upon opening in the morning use the key fob(or the key)to unlock drivers side door. Actuator works silently when opening driver side door either way. Sometimes I wish I wasn’t so cheap but then I think about how much I’ve saved with this car over the years for reliable transportation I don’t feel too bad. I do have a trusted Indy that would do this for me at a reasonable price. We’ll see.
