Checking break in materials and fuel etc. This sample is taken with 3000 kms on the oil and a total of 14,000 kms on the engine. Still shedding some iron, but expect that to diminish in the next 10,000 kms.

I *almost* put a 3-53N into a 69 FJ40 in 1973. Because it was 120kg lighter, I used a Perkins 4.236 instead. I still have the 53 series manual somewhere.
What does TIB mean (T means turbo before blower)?

So a 4-53N with N50s is ~133hp/280ft-lb. Any idea what your rating is? Sorry, just curious. Currently I have Bandeirante (Brazil Landcruiser) 1988 OJ50 with stock Mercedes OM314, 52 Dodge M37 with Hercules 3.7DTA and 05 Unimog U500 camper with of course stock drivetrain (OM906LA).
I have never seen the “B” designation with DD engines before but I think I understand how it works.

Nice, my K27 turbo is off an OM906, never seen the OM314, but have lots of time working on the OM636 and OM621.:) I'm at about 210HP/475FT-LBS with 7A77's and compound turbos. Boosting those numbers to 250HP/550FT-LBS in coming weeks with propane. The B designation started after they introduced the Silver Series with bypass blowers. My engine is now upgraded with Silver internals, and a performance camshaft.

The OM314 is the 4 cylinder version of the 352, the famous 5.6L engine that came out in the early 50s but has even prewar ancestry; and is still seen in the 3rd world. Surprisingly low in vibration despite 4cyl. Might be balanced well and/or motor mounts. Thinking about mods like locking diffs, gears, H55F 5spd, crawler box and replacing the 7.50-16s with my 8.25R16 Michelins.
What gearbox do you have?

I know this is an older thread, but I like the add-pack of this oil - good moly, strong calcium, and ZN and PH high, but not super high; I think right around 1000-1100 ppm is perfect for most applications.
We sell this at my work in 5 gal pails…hmmm…summer oil for my all-highway commute?
