BlackStone Comments: We don't know why silicon has increased since your last analysis but it doesn't look much like abrasive dirt escaping air filtration. Any silicon product like an anti-foam additive, gaskets and sealers and many types of lubricants can cause it. Wear read about the same after adding 1,491 miles to the oil use interval. You are beating average wear in bearings and steel parts like cylinder liners. No harmful contaminants found and the 0.1% insolubles show excellent oil filtration. You could
be running more oil use miles. The TBN was 10.4 vs 10.0 for the last oil.
Left column is current UOA and the right column was previous UOA w Dello 400. This oil change saw injectors changed by Ford under warranty [didn’t have a problem with injectors until Ford “fixed” them for me] and I installed the Donaldson air cleaner kit. Both of these probably account for the increase in silicon. The run w/Dello was all towing heavy in the summer and fall with the faulty injectors [did I forget to thank Ford for creating this problem?] which is why the add pack is depleted as much as it was in the last run I think. Not much exciting going on here, and I’d like to keep it that way.
