IMO this is how long OCIs get a bad name, not so much from the high mileage but from the neglect during the run. Topping up the oil would have replenished the spent additives.

With a 3,000 mile OCI, at least someone looks at the oil level.
 
Does the owner have a K&N filter or other dirt leak into the engine? I know that could account for the top end Fe/AL/Cr numbers. The lead is scary to me. Could that be bearing corrosion from zero TBN?

Ok. Fair enough. Running 3.5 quarts in a v-8 for 11000 miles. I'd expect the TBN to be long gone and basically the oil becomes an acid bath. That in turn etches everything it touches......

Your last comment seems to me to be the most likely. The oil went from alkaline to acid and once it went acidic it starts eating away at everything it comes in contact with.
Seems to be the most likely to me.
