I think that is a good plan of attack. Exactly what I will do. Thank you.

    Advice needed on BMW K1200GT

Thanks rmueller23. I took it for about a 60 mile ride after the seafoam, parked it on a hill in the parking lot and went in for a cool drink. Came out about 45 minutes later and it started on about the 3rd try. So nothing is apparently broken, just having trouble engaging from the inertia, which...

    Advice needed on BMW K1200GT

I purchased a pristine 2004 BMW K1200GT with only 19k on the clock. It has barely been ridden in the last couple of years, hence the issue. Very regular oil changes, but the short rides and inactivity has caused an apparent problem with the starter sprag (sort of a bendix, but inside the engine...

Long-term HDEO use in an oil burner?

What about Redline oil? I realize it is pretty pricey but doesn't it have one of the highest ester content? Just bought my 08 Accord about three weeks ago, no idea what oil is in it (had fresh oil change from dealer) but it is not using oil at a high rate. I have almost 1,200 miles on it and...

    Honda K24 recommendations

Thanks for the oil recommendations. So you guys would wait on using the Kreen and just run a good cleaning oil first? M1 HM seems to be the preferred oil for that? I have no idea what is in there right now. Dealer had a fresh oil change when I bought it but he didn't know what oil was used.

    Honda K24 recommendations

Come here often for the knowledge on this board. Did a search and I think I know what direction I am leaning, but here's my dilemna: Bought a 2008 Honda Accord Coupe with 110,000 miles and looks well taken care of. Carfax shows regular oil changes, most at about 5k intervals. I knew there was a...

    Fram Ultra to 20K?

Getting ready to do my second oil change on my '06 4Runner 4.7 V8. The truck now has 240k, and has used Valvoline Maxlife High Mileage since about 70k. Uses about a half a quart per 5k, not a single leak. My question is...do you guys trust the Fram Ultra to the advertised 20k? This oil and...

    Post your cars high mileage

2006 Toyota 4Runner Limited 4.7. 237K Valvoline Maxlife HM. Not a single leak, uses about a half quart (don't have to add) in 5,000 miles according to the dipstick.

Oil advice for high mileage Toyota 4Runner 4.7 V8

Should I stay with a high mileage oil? There are zero oil leaks right now, would going to a conventional oil potentially cause leaks? I do like the fact that the Maxlife is a blend and it's super cheap.

Oil advice for high mileage Toyota 4Runner 4.7 V8

Frequent lurker here... I just bought a high mileage 2006 4Runner 4.7 V8 (235,000) that is in immaculate shape. I know that's a lot of miles, but I just sold my 98 4Runner and it had 250,000 miles and ran like a top. I am hoping to get good results with this one. The guy who sold it kept...

Looking to switch oils in a BMW 330CI

Thanks Pete. Like I stated, no reason to change other than cost. Have four vehicles and the price of oil is starting to be a pain in the budget.

Looking to switch oils in a BMW 330CI

I've been using Mobil 1 0w-40 in it since I bought it with 53,000 miles. It now has 104,000. The car takes 6.9 quarts for an oil change, and I always use Wix filters. I change routinely at about 7,000 miles even though BMW recommends 15,000 which I think is crazy. Thinking about switching to...

Wix filters- I think it solved my start up ticking?

the Mobil 1 filter on my 99 Solara did the same thing, ticked for a second or so on startup, and the oil light stayed on a little longer. Switched to Wix, no ticking, oil light goes out much quicker.

Mobil 1 oil filter in Toyota Solara

It's the M1-102. I think I'm gonna give the Wix a shot as they are available at a parts store a few miles away. Thanks for the responses!

Mobil 1 oil filter in Toyota Solara

Nope, it's the same oil, the previous owner told me they have used Penz 5w-30 from day one. I'm not too concerned about it as the light doesn't stay on any more than in my wifes 4Runner, it just was a little obvious that it stays on longer than the Fram filter did.
