Is Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5/30 Now HTO-06 Spec Approved?

Makes me wonder what else the mechanic did to cause this. Yes something is definately off.

Is Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5/30 Now HTO-06 Spec Approved?

Im wondering about all this now. I did my oil change and had Ultra Platinum 5/30 put in. Nothing else was really done. Now Im losing 30 percent of my gas mileage, as a short drive I can physically see the gas needle go down. I dont know what else to check, or what else may be causing this other...

Is Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5/30 Now HTO-06 Spec Approved?

And on the Pup bottle back side it says GF-6A, which I assume is a follow-up to GF-5? Its all pretty convincing Im ok. I just dont know why the searches on PUP don't have updated posts saying its now ok for turbo'd engines, where as before it wasn't.

Is Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5/30 Now HTO-06 Spec Approved?

Ok. When I talked to my Acura tech today, he said to make sure the oil is rated for the Honda turbo, or I'll destroy the turbo. Him saying that assumes the spec is still relevant today, which is why I posted this.

Ok that is helpful info. I didnt want to have to take back the oil I got and look for another sale on synthetic again. Thanx!

Is Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5/30 Now HTO-06 Spec Approved?

So I take it PUP has been reformulated then? In the past people wouldnt recommend PUP for use in RDXs.

Is Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5/30 Now HTO-06 Spec Approved?

I have an 2007 Acura RDX which has the 2.3L Turbo in it. I want to make sure the oil I use is spec'd for the turbo. I see they say to look for HTO-06 spec, and on the bottles of PUP I have, it does show that on the back. And the bottle does say its good for turbos. But I read so many older posts...

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Vs Mobil 1 Synthetic Vs AMSoil Signature

I have not seen those older threads. I wasn't even aware its been beaten to death as you say. I'm rarely on this forum, and now I know why. With vitriolic attitude coming from members like you, I will gladly stay off this forum. Show some respect towards others will you?

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Vs Mobil 1 Synthetic Vs AMSoil Signature

Is it true most full synthetic oils are not really synthetic, but still basically advanced dyno oil? I see Amsoil advertises they are 100% synth. Its been suggested we are getting scammed on the full synthetic oils.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Vs Mobil 1 Synthetic Vs AMSoil Signature

I'll try PUP for 2 oil changes to see how my car is. Engine only has 45k on it at the moment. If it runs worse, I will switch back to M1.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Vs Mobil 1 Synthetic Vs AMSoil Signature

No. I don't believe any 3.7L came with direct injection. As far as I know anyway.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Vs Mobil 1 Synthetic Vs AMSoil Signature

Being getting 1L jugs on sale is practically never, I will be picking up 2 5L jugs of the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Synthetic. Over a dozen videos with test results rated it higher then the Mobil 1, which had lower scores. Even the additive pack is a lot less in the Mobil 1. Being the two brands...

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Vs Mobil 1 Synthetic Vs AMSoil Signature

I was told by a mechanic that its a good idea to rev the engine up high, just to give the VVT system a workout every now and then. It kicks in around 4 or 5 grand, so if you aren't using it very often, it could fail at some point from non use. I dont know how true this is, but it makes sense...

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Vs Mobil 1 Synthetic Vs AMSoil Signature

I dont mind changing my oil at all. I just dont want to spend $18 per litre of oil if I have to drain it out once a year at 8000K. That said I might give the Pennzoil Ultra Platinum a try. Its on sale for $30 at Canadian Tire this week for a 5L jug.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Vs Mobil 1 Synthetic Vs AMSoil Signature

2014 Mustang 3.7L. I drive it hard at times, but casual more then not. I let it rev to 7 grand on occasion to keep the VVT system working. I drive the car all year round. Winters here probably go down to 0 or minus 10C. Most of my driving is stop and go.

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Vs Mobil 1 Synthetic Vs AMSoil Signature

A lot of video tests state the Mobil 1 Extended burns off a lot faster then their regular synthetic version does, and it barely meets some specs in the rating system. As per AMSoil, its their Signature Series oil with the 25K oil change interval. They want $18 per Litre for this stuff. I can...

Pennzoil Ultra Platinum Vs Mobil 1 Synthetic Vs AMSoil Signature

I usually change my oil once a year, since I only usually put on 8000K per year. I have been using Mobil 1 regular synthetic (not the awful extended stuff) for about 25,000K now, with an oil change once per year at 8000k each time. I have been seeing reviews that Mobil 1 is not the best oil...
