Is this A/C short cycling or normal?

With outside temp at 81F, car at a stop, and cabin temp set to coldest, the A/C compressor would kick on and the condenser fan would run at Low. After several seconds, the fan would run High. After a few more seconds, the compressor and fans would turn off. The total run time was ~15 seconds...

    Electric toothbrush ?

I've been using a Sonicare Essence (their low-end model) for a few years, but the battery is weakening. So it's time to look for a new toothbrush. I don't need fancy features like UV sanitizer. I just want something that cleans very well. Any recommendations?

how would you fix this leaking T joint?

This pipe feeds water into my house. The PVC T-joint is leaking exactly where the black dot is (but on the underside). Cutting it out is a last resort because there's an L-fitting to the right which leaves no spare pipe. So I'd have to dig even more and replace both fittings. Plus this is a T...

    adhesive for pea gravel?

I use pea gravel along the fence and in parts of my yard to prevent weeds. The problem is it's hard to sweep away leaves because it disturbs the gravel. What's a good adhesive for the gravel that allows drainage and that's long lasting?

    Can this tire be repaired?

I found a nail in my almost-new tire, and it's leaking 4 psi per week. I plan to take it to a tire shop but wanted BITOG's opinion. Is it too close to the sidewall? It's about 2.5 inches away from the edge

    Flowbee haircut system

Does anyone here use this? It's a vacuum-assisted hair trimmer. It has a ton of positive reviews on Amazon, but lately I'm incredulous about Amazon ratings due to shill reviews. So I come to BITOG for guidance First-hand opinions?

How much meat do you eat?

http://blog.naturessunshine.com/en/what-are-we-eating/ Annually the average American eats 110 lbs red meat, 74 lbs poultry, and only 16 lbs seafood. The US is 2nd in the world to Luxembourg in meat (non-seafood) consumption per capita. I estimate my meat consumption: poultry 100 lbs; red meat...

    Pest in the attic

For the last month, I've been hearing noises in the attic. The noise is usually from 11PM to 6AM. It sounds larger than a mouse, so I'm guessing it's a squirrel, raccoon or possum. What DIY method is good at removing them? I know there are many ultrasonic products; do any work? I don't have any...

    poor wi-fi coverage at home

I'm getting tired of dropped WiFi signals upstairs. I'm unable to move the WiFi router/modem to a different location, so it looks like I will have to get something better. What wireless router has good range? Or should I be looking at powerline ethernet? I have a spare wifi router that can be...

How's this sacrificial anode rod look?

I inspected the anode rod from a 5-year old heater. This picture is how it looks immediately after pulling it out. It was a dark grey color but covered by a crusty brown material, which I removed by cleaning w/ a wire brush and acidic cleaner. There was very little pitting. My water is 50ppm...

lifespan of trunk mounted car battery

Is there any difference in lifespan for a battery that's mounted in the trunk vs. in the engine bay where it'd be much hotter? My thought is that there should be noticeable difference, for the same reason that people in hot climates can only get 2-3 years from their battery but people in...

has anyone succesfully filed a warranty claim?

I was reading the warranty for a major tire manufacturer, and it seems very hard to successfully file a claim for premature wear. First, the tire has to wear down to the wear indicator (2/32"). But who waits until the tire is nearly bald before replacing their tires? I don't. Second, they...

    changing color of wheels

I found a very good deal on used alloys, but they are powdercoated black (originally silver). I don't like black. How expensive is it to change the color back to silver? I'm guessing it has to be sandblasted then repainted?
