    AC/Delco Syn 5W/30, 5544 OCI, 2015 Canyon 3.6L

Is that the HM formula? I thought of that, too. Winters in eastern Washington get cold, but not cold enough for a zero W, and summers can, and usually do hit 100+. Would a 5w40 work for a year round fill? As far as "swill" that was not meant as derogatory...more of slang. I am not brand loyal...

    AC/Delco Syn 5W/30, 5544 OCI, 2015 Canyon 3.6L

So far, there are no issues with leaks, but after seeing the UOA, I'm leaning towards the HM formulation to help with the viscosity and the fuel dilution. This is my first time with the 3.6L, but it seems pretty good. FWIW, the magnet had the usual amount of gunk on it...nothing really to make...

    Aluminum avg = 4 Iron = 17 Copper = 5 Moly = 94 Everything else was good.

    AC/Delco Syn 5W/30, 5544 OCI, 2015 Canyon 3.6L

First UOA on my truck. I drive a fairly short (10 mile) highway commute during the week. Some city street driving. No real idling or mountain driving. Thoughts? Should I switch to a high mileage oil? When the AC/Delco swill was drained, I went to the Costco Kirkland synthetic. OLM was at 4%...

16 mazda cx5 2.5... oil and filter brand and type?

I've been running M1 AFE 0-20 and either M1 filter or Fram Tough Guard filters on my CX-5. No issues at all. Recently switched to Penn Platinum, and it seems to like that, too. Wix filters have been used on my other vehicles without any problems at all.

Short trip/low annual mileage oil recommendation

RVW: I never said I lay two strips of rubber from stoplight to stoplight. Nor did I say I exceed posted speed limits. I don't sit in my driveway and idle for ten minutes. And when I did my UOA after one calendar year, my OLM was at 10%. East coast dealerships must charge less than those out...

Short trip/low annual mileage oil recommendation

I did notice today as I was browsing through the Wal-Mart oil section that Valvoline has a synthetic 5w40 that is Dexos2 certified. Anybody have any thoughts on that?

Benny, you run 5w20 year round? I would have thought that 5.7 would take 5w30.

Short trip/low annual mileage oil recommendation

Hey all, looking for advice on oil for my 2011 Sierra with the 5.3L V8. I have just over 60K miles on the odometer. It does mostly 6 mile one way side street commutes to work. So about 4K miles per year. No towing or hauling. In the summer I ride, so it sees less time on the road. When I do...

    Mobil1 5w-30, 4049 miles, GMC 5.3L V8

So it sounds like two options: either go with a 5w-40 and stick with a one year OCI, or switch to a conventional and start changing twice a year. Pros/cons of each?

And pardon me for being so naive, but what would the bump up to a 5w40 do?

77GP, for only six months and roughly 2k miles, would a conventional oil work?

I can't speak for the previous owner, but I do not tow anything. 77GP, I do have a short daily commute (6 miles), but it only sits for the weekend if I'm not getting stuff from Home Depot or the landscape store.

    Mobil1 5w-30, 4049 miles, GMC 5.3L V8

Hi folks. This is my UOA for my 2011 Sierra, with 59K on the odometer. One year OCI, w/ 4049 miles on the oil. The high aluminum/iron/copper has me concerned. Any thoughts? Should I change oil brand/type or filter?
