Twin 2008 Yamaha F350 89 Hrs OCI 2170 Hrs Total

Yes, they are both the original powerheads. Exhaust manifolds were done at 800 hours as a precaution and both oil pumps and crank seals were replaced due to them seeping around 1200 hours. Otherwise, I just follow the maintenance schedule in the manual and they have treated us really well.

Northern Lights M673L Gen Marine 192 Hrs OCI

Been noticing a sheen from the wet exhaust of the generator. Oil level doesn't seem to be affected. Figured it might have something to do with the injectors as unfortunately we don't load it as much as we should. I try to load it up to 80% for several hours every 40 hours or so and that seems to...

Twin 2008 Yamaha F350 89 Hrs OCI 2170 Hrs Total

Been awhile since I did a UOA on these motors. Parker 3420 with twin 350's filled with Yamalube 10w-30. I usually service at 100 hours but, the boat was headed down to NC from Maryland for some work offshore so I did a full service before the trip. Next service I will be switching to a 10w-40...

    Delo 5w-40, 7500 OCI, 01 Jetta 1.8T

Have been wanting to try a different oil on this thing. But, with the Delo being so cheap and working well I tend to lean to the side of " If it aint broke don't fix it". Pretty excited for it to hit 200K here soon.

    2008 Yamaha F350 91 Hrs OCI

Hey folks, Decided to try a different oil to combat the low viscosity that I was having with the Yamalube 10w-30. Went with West Marine 4 stroke 10w-40 this time. Unfortunately, I don't think the large amount of idling we do helps these motors, but its the nature of our work. Never noticed a...

VW 01 Jetta 7500 OCI Delo XLE 5W-40

Hi folks, Received the results from my latest analysis and almost forgot to post it up. Few months ago, I had the timing belt strip its teeth and take out all 8 exhaust valves. Threw in a full set of Supertech stainless valves and stem seals and lots of assembly lube used. Can't wait to break...

Northern Lights 6K Genset Rot T4 200Hrs OCI

Sounds like a plan. I will stick with the dino and do a few samples to see where the wear starts creeping up. Unfortunately, I think we are at about 175 hours right now, so I will be changing it soon and then wait until 50 hours and do my first sample.

Northern Lights 6K Genset Rot T4 200Hrs OCI

Thanks for all the insight folks! The thermostat is a 167 degree one and is stock from the factory. The temp gauge usually runs around 180 from what I can tell. I usually start the generator in the morning and shut it down at the end of the day, not much short cycling going on at all. The only...

Northern Lights 6K Genset Rot T4 200Hrs OCI

Hello all, Decided to do an analysis on the genset for my workboat. Its a Northern Lights M673L3 6KW powered by a Shibaura 3 cylinder mechanical injection diesel, heat exchanger cooled. The manufactuer recommends a 200hr oil service interval which has been followed since new. Unit has a little...

    Twin 2008 Yamaha F350, Yamalube 10W-30, 99 hr OCI, 790 Total

Decided to do an analysis on our workboat. Its a Parker 3420 XLD with twin Yam F350s. The work that we do involves a lot of idle time and low rpm cruising, I would estimate about half of the OCI hours are idling, but, when we do cruise I like to run it wide open. Boat gets about 250 hours a year...

2018 Kawasaki Ultra LX PWC FF

Did you happen to cut open the filter? My boss just bought the exact same model to complement his older 2014 Ultra LX. I changed the oil and filter after 5 hours of break in and was surprised at the amount of metal that it caught. Most of the pleats had some sort of metal particles in them...

    2015 Corolla 2ZR-FE 92,000 MI , PP HM 0W-20

Pretty sure it was a Fram Ultra. This is actually my fathers vehicle and he drives 120 miles round trip each day for work. The car doesn't see any short tripping at all. I was always a bit skeptical of the 10K oil change, but I think I have been convinced.

What to keep an eye out for at junk yards

I converted the interior in my Jetta to all black with all used parts from the local pick n pull. Most cars end up being trashed, but occasionally you come across a very well taken care of vehicle. Currently looking for a new interior for a 2004 Passat to restore.

You guys are probably right. I could have sworn it was Mobil 1, but it seems I was mistaken. It has been awhile since I did this. For my next one I made sure to write down what I used and put it in the oil sample bottle. Thanks guys!
