    Valvoline NextGen Tech Oil

Not only am I one of those 600 that know about the NOACK issue, I am currently running this oil in my Accord. I have around 4 cases in the 5w-20 variety and started using it last oil change. To add to the fun I actually purchased it ( free after rebate for those who remember) just a few miles...

    Amazon Tire Purchase Rebate

Hi, Has Anyone bought a set of tires on Amazon and successfully submitted and received a manufacturer's rebate? Finding mixed success on other forums. Emailed Cooper's promo department and they said no, but some have claimed that they got the rebate without issue. Thanks.

How many TV channels do you have? How many do you watch?

Built my own antenna 10 yrs ago and never looked back. Mounted on a long board and leaned up against the roof in the attic. 30 or so channels probably watch 15 of those. Lately some of the signals are pixelated and am considering a signal booster. TiVo records stuff throughout the day and night...

    ooma?

I have had the original no fee Ooma from about 2010 or so. Been pretty flawless except for resetting it once in awhile. At some point the FCC got involved and threw those taxes on there. They have tried to get us first adopters to convert to the new ones but I'm not going to switch.

    Maxlife for Honda?

Valvoline will say “recommended” rather than approved. DW-1 can be had for $4-$5 a quart if you do some looking. Many people have used Maxlife in Honda’s without any issue. I have several cases of Maxlife bought with the O’Reilly’s $5 off $5 a few years ago but still choose to run OEM fluid. The...

New Starter Test Report Says Solenoid Fail

Ended up getting a reman from Advance Auto. I have had a run of bad luck with a few items purchased online and the lifetime warranty was the deciding factor. I am going to see if I can rebuild the OEM one myself.

Mouse using my Sonata engine as a kitchen.

Had a mouse a few years ago in my Odyssey. I washed the engine bay with simple green to get rid of any droppings/urine and they haven't been back. I also leave off the plastic cover on the engine. Looked into a few methods to keep them out including sonic devices as well as peppermint oil but...

New Starter Test Report Says Solenoid Fail

DB Electrical emailed me back and said to go and have the starter tested. Really???? Great customer service they have there. I didn’t expect a $65 starter to last as long as the OEM but to have a failed solenoid right on the test sheet is a bit ridiculous

New Starter Test Report Says Solenoid Fail

Hello.. Starter on Accord is acting up. Decided to buy a new made in China one off Amazon from DB Electrical based on some descent reviews. Will possibly rebuild the original one once I get a chance. Was going to install this weekend but looked at the test report and saw that both the solenoid...

Getting rid of a old tube tv

Around here most townships charge to recycle them...its like $30 for a tv 32" or bigger. I see them on the side of the road quite often where people just dump them because they don't want to pay. People who don't know they need to be recycled will put them at the curb for the garbage man to take...

    Mixing Brake Pad Brands

Hello... 2007 Accord EX-L needs some brakes and rotors. Because of a few discounts and previous parts being bought and not used I have some Bendix CT-3 ceramic for the front and Wagner Thermoquiets Ceramic for the rear. Not thinking there will be an issue but not finding a lot of info online...

    Sump pump advice

I'm in Chicago like the OP and have a washing machine going into a slop sink that drains into a sump pit and the sump pit being pumped into the sanitary line. The sump also handles the rain water. I haven't done a lot of research on it but I believe those setups are grandfathered in for Chicago...

    Sump pump advice

If you want the Zoeller 53 series get the N53. The part of the pump that fails the most is usually the float switch. The N53 requires you to use a separate float switch where the M53 has the switch built into the pump. When the switch goes bad you just swap it out and are good to go. The M53...

    Good hot water heater brand?

Have a State (AO Smith) 50 gal natural gas put in when my house was built in 2004. Changed the anode several times and I drain somewhat regularly without issue. I believe that AO Smith makes the Reliance brand as well. They sell Reliance at our local Farm and Fleet and they seem to be identical...
