Every Other Oil Change, Change Filter????

The ratings you are talking about are nominal not absolute. Are these efficiency ratings multi-pass or single pass? Of course a 99.8 percent efficiency sounds great but its a multi-pass efficiency. I would like to know what the single pass efficiency rating is....you have to remember that if it...

What oil for a gear box with a wet clutch?

The type of gearbox would be very helpful...like what kind of reduction? worm gear? I would start there and use a gear oil specific to the type of gearbox and then make sure it has a anti-friction modifiers for the wet clutch. You need more info to decide on proper recommendations.

    Ford F150 starting problem

I would definitely check the connections on the solenoid...I had the same issue about a month ago on a 02 f150. The solenoid is on the passenger side firewall. I had to jump it with a screwdriver at the time...it hasn't done it since but I don't drive it much. I would definitely clean the...

How long on Napa Golds ?

Just an observation, IMO, why do some judge a filter performance on visual inspection?? If you look at the size of particles then are we inspecting them under a microscope? Diameter of average human hair 70 microns Lower limit of visibility (naked eye) 40 microns White blood cells 25 microns...

Which Grease Specs / Tech data is most important?

Base oil viscosity is important when selecting a grease, also what additives are needed for the application - like a ep additive for extreme pressure. Your NLGI is not that important, if you want good pumpability then go with a one instead of two.

Changed oil on yamaha, now clutch SLIPS!!!!!!!!!!

You need the JASO-MA specified oil in that crankcase, I would recommend not to use it until you do so. It doesnt matter if its mineral or synthetic, just as long as it JASO-MA rated.

Fram Xtended Guard Cut Open (Used 13453 mi)

No insults taken, I understand they are some OCD ppl out there but I guess it comes down too what your comfortable with. I wouldnt feel comfortable going long OCI without knowing the dp of the filter. To me its cheap enough to change out the filter and top-off and give you peace of mind. I...

Also if your taking a sample at the end of your OCI and your contaminents level are high...then what...how long has that been running like that? There are alot of what if's...I would rather be safe than sorry. A filter is cheap insurance.

Fram Xtended Guard Cut Open (Used 13453 mi)

First off, Im not a first year undergrad! I have 10+ years experience in the industrial lubrication field, and lots of experience with filters. How often are you guys doing UOA's on your vehicles? The way you describe things it seems like your doing it weekly. In my field in most cases we dont...

Fram Xtended Guard Cut Open (Used 13453 mi)

I'm gonna have to agree to disgree to some point. If you dont know what the differential pressure is on the filter you have no idea if its close to a bypass, not to mention in total bypass on startup. Once a filter has a higher dp its doesnt take that long to reach its useful life. UOA are...

So...as read alot of these forums and see alot of ppl comment on how good these filters look. How do you know if your filter is close to reaching its designed capacity? Do alot of ppl have dp capabilities across the filter? IMO I would play it safe and change it more often than trying to get the...

My two cents: maybe if you dont stockpile too many filters, they wouldnt have a chance to go bad. There will always be good filters to buy.

articles on beta ratio and efficiency

Below is a few articles of beta ratio, efficiency, ratings that you might find interesting: Filters are rated on their ability to remove particles of a specific size from a fluid, but the problem is that a variety of very different methods are applied to specify performance in this way. Pore...

    Log Splitter NEW, Best fluid

I would recommend Mobil DTE 10 excel 32, or there synthetic "Mobil SHC 524. These are supreme hydraulic oils. The synthetic has very good viscosity index, thus making a good low and high temp applications.
