    Does oil degrade with time?

I have an opened bottle of RL that has been sitting for about a year. Today I noticed yellow streaks (like sweat off the cap) outside of the bottle (a very thin film). Could that be the residue from the time I poured the oil? Is the oil still good?

How many miles on your Civic? What have you been using before the PP? How long have you had the PP in? I'm using PP 5w-20 on my 06 Civic and the car seems very happy with it (smooth revs). As far as MPG, no changes. Been averaging 28 using ValSyn,PenYB,RL.

    Mobil 1 Burning ?

I had Mobil 1 in my wife's Acura RL 02 and dumped it out in less than a month due to a strong burning smell (she is the queen of severe driving. Nothing but short distances). I have not experienced any burning smell with any other oil though.

    Why wouldn't this work?

I've been mixing 1 qrt RL and 3 qrt Synpower in the last 2 OCIs. No UOAs though. I figured a little Molly and group V wouldn't hurt anything. Didn't have the balls to keep it up without a UOA so I switched to straight Synpower for now. I must say that the car sounded a lot smoother on high RPMs...
