Mid-size pickup decision - Ford Ranger v. Toyota Tacoma??

Yep.... fat fingered that one, 1994 ; Technically, not a Tacoma either - it was called a Pickup at the time and actually owned the 1989 rendition too (4X4, 4 cyl Standard Cab w/ Manual Transmission and Manual Locking Hubs) !! Had to go out before the storms and lock the hubs in !! God, I miss...

Mid-size pickup decision - Ford Ranger v. Toyota Tacoma??

I have owned the Tacoma of some form since 1884… I currently still have a 2015 Tacoma … my son in law came from the F150 to a 2016 Tacoma and still has it…. I’m more than familiar with the good and bad… I also still own a 2005 4Runner. At Christmas of 2019, I lost my daily driver which commutes...

Hard steering in 2004 Toyota 4-Runner when cold

Had exactly this problem on our 2004 4Runner. Resolved by a replacement of the intermediate shaft. Lubricate the U joint at the end of the shaft... and see if it gets any better.

    Toyota Oil Filter Porn

Gebo, Thanks for the trash dive.. I really do appreciate... And this is some good stuff. So let's talk about what we are seeing and might know: 1) G2 media was and still might be better than the original PurePlus from Purolator. This is based upon my conversation with them a few years ago. 2)...

Should I Feel Bad Buying an Oil Filter W/O Endcaps

Gebo, I don't think you're messed up... Or if you are, we both are then. You are where I was at the time of my switch to WIXs 51348 for my 2004 four cylinder Tacoma close to five years ago. I have run these mostly with a few Fram XG3614s thrown in since switching away from the D1/D3s... I just...

    Toyota Oil Filter Porn

So, Gebo... Being the BITOG person you are, did you look at the construction of the G2 in the seam area? Did it have the wide spacing we have seen in the Purolators that are having issues? If the concern is ultimately efficiency, the material color from your pics looks different than the...

    Toyota Oil Filter Porn

This is not an attempt to hijack this thread: Gebo, can you take a picture of seam area of the YZZG2? The reason for my question is that I speculate that Toyota completely specs this filter for Purolator to build. I believe this because about six years ago my Toyota dealers ceased carrying my...

BG Ultra Guard 75w90 gl5 gear oil

I recently had a transfer case change done by my local Toyota dealer on my 2015 Tacoma 4x4. This is the fluid they used as they gave me the empty bottles.

Toyota 90915-YZZG1 Made in the USA

I would guess that you could probably figure out where I would be parked at - I visited a dealership that was 45 miles from my place and bought them six at a time for newly two years. My vote is G1 and here is why.... Either filter meets the manufacturers specification. Your six cylinder...

Toyota 90915-YZZG1 Made in the USA

Might be able to add a bit more : Also seem to recall from the conversation that the engineer I spoke to said that the media associated with the G1 was "different" than that of the Classic and PureOne. Seems if I remember correctly, he said the G1 efficiency was better than Classic but not...

Toyota 90915-YZZG1 Made in the USA

Now this filter is one I KNOW a bunch about. I had used this filter or its predecessor (08922-02011) since 1994 when Toyota switched to the Denso non-end cap designed YZZD1s and D3s. The local dealers except one who is 45 minutes from me switched away from this G1s to the D1s and D3s. For a...

Replacing Michelin LTX M/S on Toyota Tacoma

I am exactly in your situation.... I have a 2004 Tacoma that has had nothing but LTXs on it as long as I have owned it.... 157K. I currently have about 65K on my second set of LTXs..... And have really been debating this decision. Most people on this board suggest Destination LE2s...... But I...

Firestone Destination LE2 or Cooper Discoverer HT

Manny, Another option might be the Toyo Open Country HT... Just another thought (and should have mentioned it earlier!)

Firestone Destination LE2 or Cooper Discoverer HT

I have been watching this thread closely as I have exactly the same situation but in 215/75R15.... I have also been considering the BF Goodrich Long Trail TA Tour as a replacement for the Michelin LTXs that I currently have on my 2wd Tacoma. I drive nearly 60 miles per day and the Michelins have...

    Washer and Dryer Thread

I too am a proponent of SPEED QUEEN. After reading this thread, If it's not too late, get your money.... and go give SPEED QUEEN a chance. My wife wanted a replacement for her 20 year old top loading Maytag, and when I asked the sales folks at the appliance store which sold Maytag, GE, almost...

    The Best Automotive Battery Is...

27F is available at Advance in their Silver line if you have one in your area... it is the Johnson Controls battery... If you go to this link, you'll read some interesting stuff about JCI and the 27F they manufacture (at least what I was told at the time): Question of the Day - Best Car and...

    Tire recommendations for P185 65 R14

Spyder, I too have a 2000 Corolla that the primary driver is my 20 year old daughter. Based upon the good reviews that I have been reading here and on other sites, I had been contemplating both the Cooper CS4 and the Michelin Harmony. It would be interesting to know if someone has either of...

    need help

In my area (Ohio), it is tough to find a 10W30 HDEO. I wanted Rotella T 10W30 for a Kubota Tractor... ultimately, found it at O'Reilly Auto Parts - only available in gallons in the store, but they sometimes will order quarts. (I also found Motorcraft at the Ford dealer, but it was expensive -...

Best Car and light truck batteries

Well, gents. I have now read this thread completely... and I had posted one about a Bosch Premium Plus that some of you responded to. Since I am on vacation this week, I've been doing a bit of battery digging and trying to understand how this business really works. I thought I'd share some of...
