    F150 oil change

i wouldn't really expect you to have much if any consumption on a newer engine like that. by the way nice truck. '08 was the last year for that body style. haven't really gotten along with the new ('09-'10) body style yet. i'd love an '04-'08 truck. anyway, the unknown history of my truck...

    F150 oil change

i'm not really concerned about the quality of the motorcraft oil. there are guys on the ford truck forums i frequent with over 400k miles using nothing but motorcraft 5w20. obviously it is not a low-quality product.

    F150 oil change

i've had consumption issues with this engine since i bought the truck. about one quart per 3k miles seems to be about the norm. this was really the first time i've gone past 3k on a OCI. it seems that after the first quart is gone after 3k, i lose another quart every 1.5k or so. maybe it burns...

    F150 oil change

motorcraft and kendall have been produced and packaged by conoco phillips for some time now. both seem to be widely respected around here (at least the motorcraft, haven't seen too much on the kendall) for both quality and price point. the motorcraft is one of the cheaper oils on the shelf and...

Stored Vehicle and Whether to Change Oil

oh and as for the OP's question. i always change the oil BEFORE it goes away for the winter. in my situation, if the car had the "old" oil in it after coming out of storage, that would mean it hasn't had its yearly oil change yet, so i would change it. i don't know if that's your situation or...

Stored Vehicle and Whether to Change Oil

synthetic vs. dino depends on the application sometimes, not just OCI. my mom's "summer" car only sees about 3k miles a year. by your reasoning i should be putting dino in it. only problem is that the car is a mercedes sl500 which i would never dream of putting dino oil in. Mobil1 0w40 changed...

    F150 oil change

Changed the oil today in the truck. I last changed it on 10/29/09. I forget the exact mileage at that time, but it was just under 70k. I have 7485x miles on it as of today, so this oil had almost 6k miles on it. I used Kendall GT-1 Syn blend 5w30 last time. I topped off with a quart of Valvoline...

good oil for modified ford 4.6l (supercharged)

I am considering supercharging my 4.6L engine in my '98 F150. The kit I am looking at is made by Vortech and it is a centrifugal type blower. The instructions from Vortech's web site state to use a full synthetic 5w30 oil with API SG or SH rating. These instructions were written in 1997 or 1998...

WM offers lens polishing -- good deal?

we just started offering this service at my shop. i volunteered my truck as a donor for the "training" class the kit manufacturer came out and did. my headlights were nasty, yellow and cloudy. they now look brand new. for the price we charge for the service, you couldn't go out and buy the...

    Why God, why?

here's one for ya... had a kid come in the shop for a flat repair about six months ago. of course complaining that he had "just bought the tires" a few weeks before and couldn't believe one was flat already. it as an early 2000s S-10. the vehicle had these on it...

    Wiper Blades

i replace mine when they start to streak, or make excessive noise...not by any particular time frame. i usually get about a year or so out of a set. honestly i could probably leave them on a bit longer but i replace them as soon as they are "less than perfect." i usually get the bosch micro edge...

    Misfire code on Ford 5.4

Any experienced tire shop guys here?

What we use sometimes at my shop is a bicycle tire tube. They actually make something sold specifically for this purpose, but I found out that the bicycle tube works just the same. When I get a tire that is hard to seat both beads at the same time, I will seat the bottom bead (just push the...

Motorcraft filter ok for extended drain?

I'm going to be doing and ARX on my truck, then slowly extending the drain (with UOA's of course) to see how far I can go on Rotella T synthetic 5w-40. Since the stuff is so cheap at WalMart, I was figuring I would just pick up a Motorcraft filter there as well (plus my local parts store doesn't...
