    Marine Grease Compatability

Hi Guys, I love reading this forum, but sometimes I get me a headache trying to keep up with you. So after some searching, I thought I'd just ask. When I bought my boat (2004 four-winns with volvo-penta outdrive) I also bought a tube of grease for the gimbal bearing. I am pretty sure it was...

    M1 0W40 OK in my B&S?

Not sure about M1, but I know my briggs lawn mower will consume any multi-weight oil. I put in straight 30, and can get a full summer out of it. I agree, the B&S engines can last a long long time, but they do need oil. The manual for my toro push mower calls for a straight 30 weight.

CraigsList not working correctly any more

Hi All I have a Dell PC with Vista. We use Att-yahoo to connect (and for email) and internet explorer to browse the web. It used to be that when in Craigslist, I could click on the respond to link, and I would be brought to my att-yahoo email (new mail) with the for-sale item in the subject...

    Any Weightlifters out there?

So.....this is pretty far off topic. But you never know. I just acquired an DP Dual Trac 20 weight machine. DP (diversified products) was sold by sears, and went out of business in 1989. I think that was before Al Gore invented the internet, so I am having NO LUCK googling or yahoo ing to find a...

Oil recomendations for Briggs powered Generator

Thank you for the replies. I was hoping you'd tell me that modern sythetics could cover the entire range. I know that the NAPA store close by carries RTS, I'll have to call to see if they stock or can get 5w-40. I know our WallyWorld carries Castrol. If the bottle is 0w-30 Syntec, would that...

Oil recomendations for Briggs powered Generator

Hi All My 10hp Briggs L-head powered generator came with Briggs SAE 30 oil. The engine does not have much use, but it has now sat for a few years, and I think I should change the oil. The model-code for the engine is 19G412-1187-E1 991215A My question is what weight? Here is what the manual...

    B&S 305 cc - snowblower engine

Hi Guys, Just thought I'd add this tid-bit. I also have the 305cc Briggs OHV on a brand new snow blower. The manual does recommend several different weights of oil based on tempurature, with a synthetic 5W-30 covering the entire tempurature range. But it ALSO specifies that the rating should be...

Homelite String trimmer- delay in engine response

I think mine is a model st155. bought it in about 1986-87. Still runs great, but I know the diaphram in the carb is shot. I have had to take the carb apart once or twice to clean it out. For me, time for a carb rebuild with primer bulb, etc. I remember this was the first gas string trimmer for...

    Lawnmower Maintenance

For what it is worth, if I run any multi-vis oil in my 5 hp briggs lawn mower, it will consume oil fairly fast. It consumes almost no oil when I run the recommended 30 wt. D

    Ariens Sno-Blowers

Hi H2, I've got a 1960 simplicity 8hp that I bought used for $300 about 18 years ago. All I've ever done is put on new belts and cleaned the carb out. (well, come to think of it, new fuel line twice now). I agree with Andyd, the new ones at the discount stores are cheap junk. I have not looked...
