    '06 Honda Ridgeline, 6500 miles Havol 5w20/LC20

At first, I tried following the severe maintenace schedule for the first 3 oil changes (3750 mile OCIs). Then after the third one, I decided to push it upwards to 5000 mile OCIs. I ALWAYS change my filter when I do my oil and have used nothing but Genuine Honda oil filters. 3,716 Castrol GTX...

    '06 Honda Ridgeline, 6500 miles Havol 5w20/LC20

I've got an '05 Honda Pilot (V6) with 15,000 miles on the engine, after using dino oil (Exxon Superflo 5w20) for about 4500 miles, my copper reading was only 19. This should dispell the myth that ALL honda v6 engines should have copper readings above 30 for the first 30,000 miles...

    New Mobil Clean 5000 VOA

FYI -- Earlier in this thread someone stated that Exxon Superflo was identical to the Mobil Clean 5000 and both were high in sodium. Well I just did a UOA on Exxon Superflo 5w20 SM oil and it apparently does not use a lot of sodium as an additive...

    5W-20 vs. 5W-30 vs 10W-30

Can we please cut the crap and stop proclaiming, with a blanket statement that, "5w30 is better for a hot engine than 5w20"... (I'm paraphrasing some of Bufurd's comments in this thread) There is absolutely no proof to this statement... All you have to do is search through the UOA's on here...

Honda Oil is NOT the same as Exxon Superflo

Cerbera, Thanks for all the info. It would seem redundant for me to do a VOA on SM/GF-4 Exxon 5w20 at this point... so I guess I will hold off. LT4 Vette, Are you still planning on sending a Honda SM/GF-4 for an VOA? If not, maybe I will do so myself so we can still make the comparison...

Honda Oil is NOT the same as Exxon Superflo

Point well taken about old oil on the shelf.. but rest assured I bought the SM GF-4 blend.

Honda Oil is NOT the same as Exxon Superflo

I picked up the Exxon Superflo 5w20 last night. It is in fact SM GF4 motor oil. I agree that we should compare SM to SM. LT4Vette, have you picked up the Honda motor oil yet? If so, is it SM GF4? As soon as I get my kit from blackstone I'll send in the Superflo sample and combined with...

Honda Oil is NOT the same as Exxon Superflo

Ok I will definitely check the API category when I go to Autozone tonight. But if they don't have the "new" SM oil, then I'm SOL because, as I stated earlier, it was nearly impossible just to find a store that even sold Superflo 5w20 in my area.

Honda Oil is NOT the same as Exxon Superflo

The following phrase was taken directly off of the Exxon website where it was advertising superflo.... "The SAE 5W-20, 5W-30 and 10W-30 grades satisfy API Category SM, which is the highest API quality recommended for gasoline powered vehicles." So does this mean your local Autozone has an "old...

Honda Oil is NOT the same as Exxon Superflo

I'll tell you what, 5w20 Exxon Superflo is NOT easy to find !!! I tried 3 different walmarts. Two of them carries SUperflo, just not in 5w20. I then tried my local KMart. Same story there, they carry superflo, just not in 5w20. I stopped at the Exxon station, even they don't carry the 5w20. I...

    Oil Change Question

My '05 PIlot is very easy to get to... You don't even have to jack the vehicle up to change the oil & filter. Just turn the wheel all the way to the rigth and you can reach your hand in, in front of the passenger side wheel and remove the oil filter. Easiest vehicle I've ever done.

Honda Oil is NOT the same as Exxon Superflo

So just for the sake of comparison... which Exxon Superflo 5w20 VOA are we going to compare the Honda motor oil sample against? The one I provided a link for at the top of this thread is dated June 2005. Will that suffice? Or should I (if I can find Exxon Superflo 5w20), send in a VOA for this...

Honda Oil is NOT the same as Exxon Superflo

Thanks for all the input. And I really appreciate the generosity of getting a Honda VOA done! I was unable to find Exxon Superflo in a 5w20 around my area anyways -- Walmart and the Exxon stations had all kinds of weights, just not 5w20. However, since it sounds like Mobil 5000 = Exxon...

Honda Oil is NOT the same as Exxon Superflo

The Honda oil has no sodium whereas the Exxon Superflo has a high amount of sodium. Also the Honda oil has twice the Moly content as the Exxon.

Honda Oil is NOT the same as Exxon Superflo

Unless I'm missing something... check out the following threads showing the Honda 5w20 VOA's and the Exxon Superflo 5w20 VOA's... they look extremely different to me... Exxon Superflo: http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=11;t=000321 Honda...

    Honda 5W20 Virgin Sample

Ok I've got a problem with this b/c I read in several threads that "Genuine Honda" oil is the SAME as "Exxon Superflo".... Well I did the research and compared this Honda VOA with an Exxon Superflo VOA -- both 5w20... I'm copying the Exxon Superflo VOA below... These oils look totally...

    Another GM Intake Manifold Gasket

My 2000 Saturn had a leaking intake manifold gasket... dealer wanted "only" $500 to replace it... I wasn't too impressed.
