Switched to GC and now the engine leaks oil?

95 Miata driven about 4k miles per year. Last year at 75k I switched to GC and the engine has started leaking oil from the rear main seal. I know it's probably unrelated, but it seems odd to me that the engine didn't leak a drop for 75k miles and one OCI later it's leaking pretty good from an...

    GC good for 94 Toyota p/u with a 22re?

I've got a stash of GC that I've been running in my 95 Miata with great results. It's time to change the oil in my newly acquired pickup with 137k on it and I was wondering if the GC will be beneficial for an engine rated for a 10w-30? I know it's a great oil, but I've read several posts about...

Best MTX fluid for troublesome RSX-S tranny?

Background info- my RSX type s has a very common issue where the 5-6 synchro sometimes causes the shift to 3rd to not engage. It's a known problem and there is a TSB on it. I had the transmission repaired as per the TSB at my Acura dealer only to have the transmission lock up two days later (the...

M1 5W30 Acura RSX-S High lead and iron readings

Just got the report from Blackstone. Couple of questions: 1) How serious are the lead and iron readings? (Should I trade it in ASAP? 2) If the oil is in good shape (which they say it is) why is it not protecting like it should. I changed it at 10,000 miles which is what the manual suggests. I...

Oops! Mixed Havoline 5w20 SM and SL rated oil...

Just finished a DIY oil change on my 05 Accord V6 and I noticed that 3 of the 5 quarts were SL rated and 2 were SM rated. Is this something I should be concerned about, or is it just a matter of superceding oil ratings? Thanks! ~Shane

Anyone tried the new "drytech" filters from AEM?

They basically say right on the box that the cotton guaze oil filters they've been selling for years let in too much dirt. The new drytech filters are supposedly made of a synthetic fiber and filter much more efficiently. No oil is used on this filter. It looks a lot like a paper element, but...

Accord V6, short commute. Dino every 3k or Synth every 5k?

I've always used Mobil 1, but after reading some of the stellar UOA's on the new 0-20Ws, I'm considering doing a dino oil change every 3k instead of my usual synthetic every 5k. Also, for those times when I don't change the oil myself, should I go to the dealership that uses Castrol GTX, or...
