Hypothetically, who makes a good 5w-20 for a modern, non-turbo engine?

I do like to redline it. A lot, as it's rather slow otherwise.

Hypothetically, who makes a good 5w-20 for a modern, non-turbo engine?

Thanks for the suggestions. The 1200 mile trip will be made about 4 times a year, so about once every 5K OCI. I was planning on using Castrol Edge or PP, but wanted to know if there was anything better.

Toyota 2.5L 4 cylinder, non turbo. OCI would never be more than 5,000. Trips would vary tremendously from city (5 miles or so) to 1200 miles on the highway continuously.

I know many on here think 0w-20s have better formulations than 5w-20s. But just out of curiosity, who is making the highest quality 5w-20 right now (excluding the "premium" brands that cost a fortune). Just curious.

2023+ Honda Pilot owners--check for fuel dilution

Guys, rings break in at way less than 100 miles--any engine builder knows this. And please stop with the warranty nonsense--I'm a lawyer, and I when I say there will be no warranty issue, I can assure you there won't be regardless of what oil viscosity I'm using, and how often I'm changing my...

    2023 Honda pilot oil recommendation

On mine, I'm getting crazy fuel dilution. I've got another thread on it.

2023+ Honda Pilot owners--check for fuel dilution

That's funny, because that's exactly the oil I'm using. It's good stuff.

2023+ Honda Pilot owners--check for fuel dilution

Thanks. Since I already changed the oil, I'll wait until I go to the dealer as they will never believe I've already changed the oil 3 times at 3,200 miles anyway. I'm going to change the oil again at 5K miles and do an oil analysis to see just how bad things are. I was concerned about the direct...

2023+ Honda Pilot owners--check for fuel dilution

Purchased a 2023 Honda Pilot about 6 months ago--it has the new v6 with direct injection only, plus VCM. Changed the oil at 400 miles to 5w-30, then changed oil again at 1,500 miles. After the 1500 mile, change, the level on my dipstick kept rising, and the oil smelled like gas. Dumped the oil...

2025 Toyota Camry - All Hybrid

Ha ha--you don't either. My numbers are facts, except for the expected MPGs, which is an approximation (for the hybrid--I KNOW the mpg a regular Camry gets on the highway). I do highway miles--it's a FACT that a regular Camry will do AT LEAST 40 mpg on the highway (if you keep it under 75, it...

2025 Toyota Camry - All Hybrid

Your calculations are way off. A regulary Camry gets 40 mpg on the highway, and a hybrid about 50 mpg. That's only 1,250 more gallons over 250K miles. At $3/gallon (cost in my area), you save $3,750. Nowhere near the extra $10K plus you will spend on the hybrid factoring in the higher initial...

2025 Toyota Camry - All Hybrid

I guess it depends on location and personal driving history. I'm in the Atlanta area, and was paying about $1100/year for full coverage on my $47K 4Runner. When I replaced it with the Accord Hybrid (a $31K car), I was paying about $4-500 more/year. My broker told me the costs are higher because...

I forgot about the higher insurance costs too. I paid roughly an extra $500/year for my accord hybrid
