    UPDATE!!! I spaced out after i fixed the problem.. so it was the oil pressure relief valve. it was stuck in a compression. i could slam it on a table and the spring would pop back.. MBZ dealer laughed at me. found one NOS from a old parts guy in so-cal. $50 and 2 days later problem fixed...

    ok guys. i think i found the problem. stuck/broken oil pressure relief valve. it feels like its broken. it will pop and give after pushing on it. you have the tap it on a solid surface to get the plunger to return

    i have not changed the oil yet. i dont think it will make much difference as the previous owner has already changed it. i will check everything out when i drop the pan

    no i am not 100% on the gauge. in my long ownership of these cars i have only had 1 oil pressure gauge fail and it still worked.. just leaked out of the oil line. i will put a mechanical gauge on it to check pressure. also, i dont see how 0-20w would clean it. as diesel oil has higher levels...

    hello all. i just bought a 83 mercedes 300d. OM617.912 non turbo... story is 2 owners ago decided if the oil would work in his honda hybrid it would work in the benz.. 0-20w is what i was told. previous owner changed it to 15-40w ASAP. oil pressure at idle is a bit low at .3-.5 bar when hot...
