Rear Diff fluid for 99 durango

Awesome, thanks for all the feedback. Now I'm kind of swinging back to Mobil 1 for ease of access, I think I had read a couple disparaging things about their gear oil, but not sure it was justified. No super strong feelings for Amsoil over Mobil 1 in this applicaiton? Probably just asked a...

Rear Diff fluid for 99 durango

Hello, I've got about 90K on my second rear differential so I try to be vigilant about changing the fluid. I've been changing it about every 30K and am overdue by that measure for another change. I had been running amsoil long life 75-90 but have been reading that severe gear might be a better...

    Sludge in new oil

So the conclusion from Valvoline was the following: "the sample results have made their way back to me. The waxy build up you see with-in the oil is the detergents and somehow, water or moisture has gotten into the containers. When this occurs, the detergents bond with the water to form this...

    Sludge in new oil

I have a new appreciation for the Q oils clear bottles now. I'll be pouring the rest of the oil I have stockpiled into clear containers before it goes into my engine form now on. Might have to end the stockpile as well, I can use the shelf space for something else.

    Sludge in new oil

Looks like it's going in for analysis: Thank you for your response. After review of the provided photographs, we are sending a postage paid fluid analysis kit directly to you so further testing may be done. Also, we would request the batch code information from the containers. You may provide...

    Sludge in new oil

Response so far. I've sent some pictures in reply to see if they still think this is additive separation and whether it can be resolved by vigorously shaking the bottle. Also whether they would still consider this oil safe to use. -------------------------- James, thank you for contacting...

    Sludge in new oil

I agree, it has a sort of waxy texture to it, not really sludge like from oil that has been left in the engine too long.. The consistency reminds me of the thin noodles in a chinese soup. Never been exposed to extreme cold temperatures. I live in SC, so being in the garage it may have been to...

    Sludge in new oil

I was doing an oil change and I was finishing pouring my first bottle of synpower 10-30 into the engine and I noticed this large piece of sludge that splattered out. I stuck my finger in and got as much of it out of the oil fill port as I could. I decided to pour the other courts into a plastic...

Is it ok to store oil in a storage unit?

Thanks very much for the quick responses. The unit isn't air conditioned (wasn't able to get a CC unit), so my concern is more to fire risk, though I don't personally think it is an issue. I thought I had seen somewhere that it might be a banned substance from storage units. I definitely won't...

Is it ok to store oil in a storage unit?

I sold my house but have many (100+) quarts of oil that I am going to put in big plastic tubs, so that if they do leak it is contained. I don't expect to have a new house for another 6 months to a year, is there any issue with storing these in a storage unit? I don't think they are a fire risk...

Ok to mix Rotella T 15-40 and Delvac 15-40?

Thanks very much for confirming, I thought so since they are the same viscosity, but just wanted to be sure.

Ok to mix Rotella T 15-40 and Delvac 15-40?

I was doing an oil change with Rotella T 15-40 and I ran out just a bit short, I have a bunch of mobil delvac 15-40 laying around, can I use that to top it off, or do I need to go get more rotella T? I'd rather not buy anymore, I've got enough oil laying around to last me a solid 5 years...
