used the oil because that's all the service station had, and they over charged me 3 bucks a quart.

It may or may not help, but what about making sure the drive to back up is defragged first. I can back up 140Gigs in about 1 hour whatever that comes out to. It can take up to 2 hours when I back up on one drive that I only place live OS images.
