    Good rule of thumb

Exactly -- and stick with that while the vehicle is under warranty, and document it. Beyond that, UOA to determine how far you can extend oil changes. GC is good stuff, so you should be able to get some long-drain benefit out of it.

    Goldwing 1800, Castrol vs Amsoil

Robin, was this the Amsoil MCF 10W-40 or their older 10W-40? 99CentDino -- your final drive splines won't take burn outs. Even liberally slathered with Honda's MP60 paste, they're not up to it. General thwacking is hard enough on them, so check them carefully at each tire change.

    Mystik JT-8 Synthetic Blend 15w50

Okay, so moly content of this oil is low to none. Is this a JASO "MA" wet-clutch oil, or does that matter for your application?

I NEED OPINIONS ON HONDA ST1300 OIL CHOICE

Problem solved, 'Skinner. Your bike will be much happier with a 10W-40. The MCF 10W-40 is superb stuff, as you can see by the UOA. For bikes, Mobil 1 only offers their MX4T 10W-40 or V-Twin 20W-50. None of their 15W-50 oils are friction-modifier free. Go here for a free test kit (you still...

    GM intake gaskets

Probably darn close to what you're planning, '20. It will take a number of times to fully flush the coolant out, so don't be surprised if your UOA comes back saying so. Might want to consider an Auto-RX clean and rinse, and then with the third oil change after that, do your UOA. I'd do it like...

BelRay EXL 20w50 6860 miles BMW K1200LT Coolant leak??

Yeah, if this oil is from the same case especially, there's something wrong. Look at the magnesium number, too. Get a Dyson Analysis done so you have a professional opinion before seeing your dealer. Best approach if you can manage it is an entirely new engine -- simpler for your dealer, and...

    Kawasaki ZX11 Redline 10W-40 1610 miles

Great winning combination here, '1370. You can go longer -- 3,000 miles wouldn't be out of the question -- and get your money's worth out of this oil. I'm sure there is some scavenging going on. Your wear numbers will continue to improve as more miles accumulate. How many miles on this...

Amsoil MCV 20W50 + AutoRX 1996 HD Road King 37K Mi

Superb results, LL. I'm sure your motor was clean before, so the ARX probably just acted as a scavenging agent. My guess is without it, your wear metals counts would have been even lower -- likely zero chromium (ring wear), for example. With this engine completely broken in, sticking with the...

Corolla 2004 with slight groves on rear drums

The best way to approach this is to buy new OEM drums and brake shoes, '323. He got a lot of miles (kilometers) out of the originals. That should tell you something. When it comes to brakes, don't bother with aftemarket stuff or trying to "fix" things with turning or re-machining. It's not...

    Recipe for Tire Lubricant?

NAPA's RuGLYDE works great -- cheap, too.

    Honda VS. Toyota (in general)>???

Camrys might have been "blah" in the past, but they're not so much anymore. Check out the specs on the 2007 models. That 3.5L VVT-i V-6 engine with 268 horses is nice.

    All free Computer Security

The new Comodo Personal Firewall is supposed to be the cat's meow for WinXP users. Fully bi-directional with automatic updates, known applications library and supported by some very savvy coders at Comodo. Their support forum there is excellent. PC Magazine rated CPF back in late May. I've...

    Higher Engine Temp with Auto-RX

Welcome to the forum, '39. You should check your cooling system for problems. There is no way ARX would make your car run hotter. Start with the easy stuff -- coolant condition and level, cap pressure test, system pressure test, etc. When is the last time you changed the coolant?

    Mobil 1 5w30, 5,010 miles, 2006 Corvette

Hehe -- I *would* have, 427Z06, but I was saving that one for Ray H Gotta love that "soft metal" copper count, though. A moderately abrasive slurry, indeed! Chad, no worries on that, btw. Hang around long enough, and you'll see worse around here (much worse). And welcome to BITOG, btw!

    Mobil 1 5w30, 5,010 miles, 2006 Corvette

Blackstone has it right on the money, Chad -- your next oil change will show tremendous improvments in the wear-metals counts. 5,000 mile oil changes look perfect. Keep doing the UOAs every time, and you'll really be able to see what's happening.
