AutoRX, 24k miles BMW, Synthetic Oil

The problem is with folks at BMW North America because the list of BMW approved oils exists and you can find it on BMW TIS CD. I can probably find older list that doesn't include LL-01FE or LL-04 oils.

Buddy blew $30k on a used BMW X5, it's sludged.

I don't think oil had anything to do with it, neither did long OCI. Like it was mentioned before BMW synthetic leaves red deposit on the cap and valve covers but it's not sludge. If he got 3.0 I6 (my guess looking at the price) it would be highly unusual to find sludge in this engine, 4.4 V8 is...

What about Mahle and Hengst? Tell me what bimmer you drive and I can direct you to a place that sells them.

Has anyone seen Mobil 1 10W-40 EP for sale?

M1's EP oils are on the market for quite some time now and I'm slowly getting sick of these stupid tv commercials but I'm yet to see 10W-40 EP? What stores carry it?

    Is GC still German?

Come on dude, I know that I was just trying to point out the fact that 5W-40 still had labels indicating that it was imported from Belgium even though it was also M05 batch indicating 2005 production. I went to another AZ store and got GC (Castrol Syntec 0W-30 for you daemonite), M04 batch and...

    Is GC still German?

I went to AZ today to get some GC and as always checked batch numbers and label and was surprised to see that on M05 bottle "Made in Germany" was nowhere to be found. I grabbed 5W-40 bottle and batch M05 had "Made in Belgium" clearly stated on the back. What's going on?

    oil for 2000 328ci

I've actually seen the opposite in my car and to be honest with you I don't remember this to be a problem from UOAs I've seen.

    oil for 2000 328ci

Lubro Moly is a good oil (you need their 5W-40 BTW) but I wouldn't say it's better than Syntec 0W-30. At $7/liter you can find much better oils. 60 weight in M52 is a bad idea, I'm surprised previous owner didn't have any Vanos problems, I'm sure he didn't hear any ticking though Stick to...

    GC 8,155 miles, '03 BMW 325i

The previous oil was BMW synthetic 5W-30, here's UOA: http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=001176

    GC 8,155 miles, '03 BMW 325i

I did this UOA more than year ago so it was still green stuff. The story of this sample is that it was taken from a container that previously had break-in oil in it and I'm afraid it wasn't completely clean before I dumped GC in it. This may explain higher lead but who knows The previous...

    VOA GC04 / GC05 0W30

If it is indeed one of SLX oils then it is not Group III. I just checked Polish Castrol site where you can access Safety Data Sheets that state what the oil base is. To make it short for all SLX products it says synthetic base, most Softec and all Magnatec it says highly refined mineral oil. You...

New Castrol SLX/BMW Group Partnering Effort

Definitely not, I don't think you want LL-04 oil, check the TBN: SLX LL04 TXT LL04 New GC might be either one of these 2: Formula SLX Neu Formula SLX LongTec BTW, I have GC UOA from my bimmer if anyone is interested.

    10,000 miles on GC--2000 BMW 528i

quadrun1, SLX used to be the service oil for BMW in Europe or at least in Germany. I've heard that from a few sources and I think Primus can confirm that as well. You have to keep in mind though that dealerships in Europe can use any oil that meets BMW specs and it's all about the money so...

2003 BMW 330Ci 11,000 miles on BMW HP Synthetic 5W-30

My guess is that the oil was changed because it's been in the car for a year, it's either once a year or as indicated by the OBC. The filters have been updated shortly after E46 was released, soemtime in 1999-00.

2003 BMW 330Ci 11,000 miles on BMW HP Synthetic 5W-30

crossbow, I don't know for sure if the oil was changed or not, it's not my car but I have yet to find BMW dealership that will change the oil unless it's been a year from the last change or the service indicator calls for it. You see, nowadays BMWs come with so called "free" maintenance during...
