we do have 2 other cars but neither uses the same grade of oil. 2012 Honda civic uses 0w20 synthetic and a 1993 240 Volvo calls for 10w30. civic gets M1 and the Volvo gets PYB. Just last year I again started doing my own changes after reading all the info about quick change salons.

great reply's. I have actually driven it about 3k miles and it has not used any oil at all. Still full and looks clean. Last slip from the dealer shows they changed it at 124200 and used 5w30. the window sticker says it's due for a change at 129200

Thanks for the feedback. I did check my manual again but it does say 5w30 oil is preferred! Dealer has been doing the changes at 5k so I'll stick with that and use my old standby oil PYB. I had thought about synthetic but you folks have taught me to not put that stuff in an older high mileage...

I will agree that mileage does suffer a little But I think if you Google "CVT" in automobiles, You will be very surprised how many cars now have them. Almost every manufacture has them. I think it's because of production cost. Much cheaper to put a belt drive in than any standard or automatic...
