    Duralast - Dayco made Belts?

Great questions. This past spring Dayco was awarded all the belt and hose business from Autozone (except ValueCraft). Previously, the Duralast belts were made by Goodyear in Mexico. Today, Dayco is supplying AZ with their Duralast brand as well as the Dayco National brand Poly Rib "W" belt. BTW...

Dayco Belts - Anyone Use 'Em?

OK, I've worked for Dayco for over 18 years so my opinion is obviously biased. Dayco and Gates do share most of the OE business. Others like Bando and Mitsuboshi do have some of the import applications. Here's the surpising part, many times the OE belt and the OES (OE Service belt you buy at the...

    belts

OK,my secret is out. I work for Dayco Products and been around the automotive business all my life. Here's some info that I know. Most of today's OEM belts are made of EPDM which is a long lasting compound that hardly ever crack. The ribs actually were from a V to more like a U shaped. Also...

    belts

The contract for Motorcraft belts go out for bid. I think belt companies get a certain part number for a certain period of time. I do know from a friend that sells belts that Dayco and Gates supply motorcraft with their belts. Goodyear has no OE business. I do agree that ContiTech belts suck...

    belts

It's harder to identify worn belts today. The ribs don't usually crack like they did in the past. The ribs get worn or thinner which changes the rib profile or angle or the rib. Hard to see and not that obvious. The belt will slip and may cause some issues with the accessories. The following...

Sepentine Belt: Gates v. Goodyear v. Dayco

Doitmyself, thank you for the welcome. Answer to #1, belt company's engineers develop belt specs. OE specs may vary from application to application. Aftermarket belts fit many applications for a specific size. Answer #2, aftermarket belts are not designed for worn sheeves. The new Dayco belt...

    belts

Since the 90s, OEM belts have been made with a new rubber compound called EPDM. These belts are designed to last much longer then their Neoprene predecessor. Dayco has just introduced a new belt called the Poly Rib "W" profile belt. The rib has an additional groove in it to conform to slight...

    Wrong part.

The tensioner in the photo appears to be a Dayco. Dayco is made with a flat spring. Be careful, there are some immiations out there. Buy branded. The photo above looks like the Dayco 89291 that Dayco lists for the Ford. Dayco calls for a 89241 tensioner for the Pontiac. Good luck

Sepentine Belt: Gates v. Goodyear v. Dayco

The AC Delco aftermarket belts are made by Gates. Dayco supplies the majority of the OE Belts for Toyota. Goodyear no longer has OE belt business. Dayco now has an aftermarket belt with what they call a "W" rib Poly Rib belt that replaced the Poly Cog which is the belt that looked a lot like the...
