Sorry this is a little late! I'm trying to catch up on posting my UOA's.

MAKE/MODEL: 2010 Ford Fusion Hybrid

Engine: Ford 2.5L 4-cyl Duratec

FUEL TYPE: Gasoline (Unleaded)

OIL TYPE & GRADE: Mobil 1 AFE OW/20

Comments:

You mentioned that you've decided to stick with 10-12,000 miles for this engine. That's a great

interval, and you shouldn't have any problems with that. If a time ever comes and your schedule is

jam-packed and you just don't have time to get the oil changed, don't feel guilty running a little longer.

You've got 10,000 miles on this fill and all wear metals are in the single digits. No contamination was found

in this sample that would be cause for concern, and the TBN is still great at 3.7. At 83,504 miles this engine

is rock-solid. Great report.

Sample Date-12/02/12

I have used the 0-20 in both Duratechs for some time and believe it has plenty of reserve left for 10K OCIs.

In this case, with a TBN of 3.7 after that kind of mileage, I'd say you were right on the money tig

I think the name AFE throws people off. It seems that AFE oil holds up pretty well in 10K runs, with room to spare.

M1 0w20 is the ultimate Canadian oil.

Mobil is definitely using a VM'er in the AFE 0w20. Tends to drop down to a 7 cSt oil after service. Probably to enhance fuel economy.

Your more shear stable oils can't meet certain fuel economy requirements.

0w20/30 are dexos 1 approved. The prior version of M1 0w20 met GM 4718M, and indication of a good quality.

AFE and PP 0w20 are tough to beat.

Amen!

Using the same stuff in my Civic and have been over the winter. Has been good, and cold starts are great with it.
Nice results in your engine, I can only assume my R18 would look similar.

Well uoa like these more than validate tigs position and experiences. Looks like ford engines and this oil are made for each other. I'll be trying it out in my 4v this summer, with some 0w-40 splashed in too though.
I don't think ford uses lead in their bearings if that makes any difference in how the uoa is interpreted.

When i had an escape with the 3.0 duratech, i chose to run the 0-30 afe over the 20w. It was the quietest oil i ran in it.

A 1-2% MPG gain is extremely difficult to measure. When I used a 5W-30 dino and 5W-30 Mobil EP and Mobil 0W-30, the MPG difference was very close but AFE gave me the best MPG.
