My 2000 Husqvarna riding mower needs the gas tank replaced due to a leak if I put in more than 1 gallon of gas. While not critical, I have the part. (partstree.com)

I assume you need to remove the back sheet metal area (from behind the floorboards) to replace the tank? Or is there a trick?

Have you called the company about this fix? I know several years ago they had a recall on their mowers, but I'm thinking it was the lines instead of the tank.

Donald, typically you have to remove the whole seat/fender pan, which sounds a lot worse than it actually is.

It's a good idea to remove this once in a while to give the transaxle and chassis a good look-over and (especially) cleaning. You'd be amazed at the amount of debris that collects up top where you can't see it.
