Over all I'm pleased with the results. Ran the oil almost 2 years. Might have to track down the silicon issue via the air filter intake system as BlackStone suggests. Only VOA I've seen of Amsoil 20W50 MCV didn't have that amount. They also suggested that copper was a little high relative to the universal averages for this type engine and might be the result of dirt ingress from the induction system.

Amsoil was also ran 2.5x longer so it could have thinned down and then thickened back up... who knows.

I'm glad it looks good on the UOA report though

Looks better than my K75C on Mobil 1 15W-50 for 4000miles. I see 30+ppm of Iron in my oil. Not sure where that Iron is coming from but I am at 138,000miles and running good so I don't worry too much.

The Mobil 1 also cut down to a thick 30Wt.

scatter scatter.....jeeez when will they do a decent calibration?

sillycon of 12 in 4200 is pretty decent. i would not worry.

nice report! at a 2 year oci, run that stuff till you or the bike dies. probably you first! keep the rubber side down!

wow castrol not in grade. that is a real shocker. oh wait i think i proved that to be the case in 2005!

I had 28ppm Iron in my 86 K75C running M1 15W-50 for 4000miles...

Maybe My Brick will disolve before me!

Running Rotella T6 5w40 this oci just for a test as Shell makes some sleeper oils and others have run this oil in their Bricks. Depending on the results in shear and wear numbers will probably go back to the Amsoil.

Probably the crankshaft, alternater, oil/water pump, and secondary shaft drive gears. Also I've seen in my own UOAs of Mobil 1, as well as others, it seems to throw slightly higher iron numbers. Speculation by some here on BITOG is it's slight reactive to iron.

Yep, and or the camshafts and timing chain and gears. I'm running VR-1 now and may sample at 2000miles as I will take forever to hit 4000 like the M1. I have a new bike to ride daily.
