You can't really see in this picture but in the magazine (C&D) it is larger and readable. The filter on the new 5.0 for the Mustang is a MC FL500S. Is this a new one? I haven't seen it before.

It is used on the 2009 Escape with the new/modified 240 hp 3.0 V6, and I assume, on the 2010 Fusions with the same powerplant. Its shorter than a FL400S.

Right now they are dealer only (not available at Wal-Mart), and are about 12 bucks a piece...I hope that will change with time as these new engines enter the market..

Skinnier and lower bypass setting seem to be the distinctions.

They are used on the 2009-2010 Edge made after 1/09 and the 2010 Fusion V6 that I know of...luckily my dealer will sell me them for $4.

Also used on Escapes and Tributes depending on the engine build date.

Zombie thread. Does anybody know if a larger capacity filter will cross reference with the FL-500S?

I could have sworn I saw the FL-500S on the shelf at my local WM. shrug

Four year old post. FL500S at WM are a recent addition.

I know I did, it was a recent addition though. I think it costs $4.97 vs the FL820S costing $3.97
