Just curious if anyone knows if there is an aftermarket fluid for a Honda CRV rear diff ?

What is Honda Dual Pump ? is it an ATF ? or a Gear Oil ??

Thanks,
Justin

I think Dual Pump is a "Variable Transmission Fluid". It is used on old Honda CVTs as well.

If there is an aftermarket fluid I am not aware of it. I just had the fluid changed on my 05 Element this past week at my Honda dealer.

I've checked with the oil companies that I can think of and none of them had anything to recommend.

Real-Time 4WD used on the CR-V/Element/Accord Crosstour is a AWD system with a hydrostatically-driven rear diff. The system is purely hydromechanical with no electronics involved. It's called dual pump because it uses 2 oil pumps and the rear diff is driven only when there's a pressure differential between both of them.

Honda used to call for 1 fluid in both dual pump diffs and CVTs, now it's Dual Pump II Fluid for dual pump diffs and CVT fluid for CVTs. Stick to OEM - Excelda bottles it for Honda.
