Hi everyone and happy new year !

I changed over to Chevron Delo 400 LE, 15w-40 recently. Wondering how cold I can safely ride in. The temps here have been down in the 30's at night. I have a 2008 Goldwing. What would you suggest the lowest temp should be for me to safely ride ?

Thanks, Dave

By definition of the SAE testing for cold cranking and cold pumping, 15w-xx should be safe to -4F in an unaided cold start. A more realistic limit IMO is probably around 10F. 30F is no problem whatsoever.

It's OK to run as long as your bike will start. Too thick for my motorcycles starter to turn and start below about 30 degrees. Switch to 10w30 or 40 in the winter. 15w40 works fine in the diesel truck down to 20 below, but with 1700cca of battery as an aid in starting.
