My latest UOA, after switching from Elf to Delvac. Very pleased with the oil. Zero consumption, starts easily and runs smooth, wear numbers are impressive, add pack and viscosity seem to be holding up incredibly well.

Quite interesting. Was the Elf 5-40? M1 website says M1 should be as good for gas engines as Delvac, but hard to look at these numbers and believe that.

fitzski,

Looks fantastic! I'd be very happy with it. Delvac 1 has always been great oil and it appears the ESP will continue the tradition.

I'd be very interested in knowing what the TBN is. I bet it is still plenty strong.

How does the Delvac and Elf compare in price?

I don't quite understand what you are saying?

Yeah, the lab (CAT/Toromont) dropped the ball on the TBN analysis. grrr... I did get a couple of free sample kits as a result.

The Elf was the Excellium DID 5W40 (VW 505.01 spec).

With my pricing up here, the ESP is about $1.50 more per litre (~$10 vs ~$8.50), all in.

I did ask for it (as I always do), and they didn't do it. Hence their apologies in the form of a couple of free sample kits.

What he's saying is the Mobil 1's website asserts that M1 is as good for a gasoline passenger car/light truck engine as Delvac 1.

This is surely true from a policy stand point ..but for those who can use the weight, there is not too much out there that can top Delvac 1 from XOM ..or anyone else for that matter. I haven't compared it head to head with Amsoil ..but it's up there in the top oils on the planet.

Nice numbers, but why is Zn & P so low?

I would have expected 1100 - 1200 ppm for Zn and P. Look at this UOA:

Delvac 1 ESP - VW Jetta TDI

Also, there is a VOA comparison:

Delvac 1 ESP - VOA

Lab variance, perhaps?
See how they run (imagine 3 stooges theme music)

Wow, that's a whole lot of variance, Gary, especially in the single and low double digit range.

Fitzski, did you use the same lab for the 4 UOAs posted?

With Zn and P being 2/3 of what they "should be", the wear readings might be shown too low as well. They are awesome so far.
