I do not understand your post, this is not for sale I do not want money so no I will not send it to other guinea pigs unless I want to and if I do its free.

I have fun on this site and as such will continue to send "stuff' to people I like, hate, do not agree with or for just fun.

When this is not fun anymore you will not see me anymore I will be on to new "fun" stuff.

It was a joke....you said you wouldn't sell it, and I said I wouldn't sent you money for it...if there was a nudge and a wink in there, then you'd read the opposite :)

Keep up the good work!

Yes ..but often reading it correctly here ..means that you're getting the wrong idea.

back on topic:

I'm running this out a bit. Probably to about 5000 miles. I'll resample at that time. I really want my wife to drive this jeep for a good month on her commute. I may put it in the 4.0 too ..but I was hoping to finally get to HDD for a year long OCI.

Here's the same sample ran through a couple of labs by Bruce. I have to assume that the other labs don't use the ASTM D 4739 process for TBN

This appears to work better. Code has its limitations and my edit time expire before I could remove some of the spacing.

Hmmm ..on the elementals ..Terry's lab appears to agree with Bruces (Analysts for VOA and UOA) ..at least to a very fine difference of a few ppm (like 19 vs. 21 ..etc). On additives ...they appear to have a drift up or down among all of them ..including the same lab that did the VOA. The TBN must use a different test than Terry's.

Moly appears to present problems for any lab.

But it doesn't ..at least by much. I find far more likenesses than differences..

Bruce's lab for VOA and UOA (UOA numbers for elements)/Terry's

FE (PPM) 13/12
Al 3/3
Cu 12/16
Si 29/28
B 16/15
Na 13/16
P 1165/1233
Zn 1529/1777
Ca 3049(VOA 2828)/2765
Ba 153/150
Mg 19/21

Now in terms of moly ..there we have a bit of trouble

Mo 194/ 156/ 275 = since there was no moly in VOA ..all of it had to be residuals ..and you can take your pick on which one is right. I'll send a B-S sample out tomorrow and then we'll have even more "stuff".

But I do know that Terry's lab uses AA (atomic absorption) while others typically do not.

I would love to see all of these run again by the same labs on the same oil. I bet they would come back different.

Really goes to show that 3 ppm or whatever differences is not worth talking about.

Yes. Bruce, Terry, Mola, Jag ..anyone will tell you trending is the key. It's always nice to see low numbers ..but ..so?

The Blackstone flash point was 360. Terry's was 270 for the closed cup method.
