I have a microwave handle that has the rectangular part coming up bent. It's plastic and the handle got too hot when a stove burner was turned on without a pot on it. Over the stove micro. The replacement is about $40.

So I am looking to heat this up and see if I can bend the rectangular part straight.

So heat gun or propane torch. I think I will only get one shot.

(This is now the 2nd time we have done this).

The rectangular piece is a guide as are the 3 round pieces. I am not sure if I really need the rectangular piece. I cannot shave it. It's a "C" shape not solid. I might be able to cut it off.

Can try what the optometrist does - a bowl of sand in a hot plate.
Move the plastic piece around in the sand to transfer the heat.
Could improvise, use a cup of sand and the stove top.

Seems open flame and plastic don't ever work out well.
