So after doing extensive research and test drives, my SO and I have decided on a couple of cars including the 2011 Sonata and the 2011 Fusion with the 2.5 auto setup. Here's the link to my original thread on my search:

I have found some unsettling info on the Fusions's transmissions and even on VERY low mileage units.

Everything else seems to have checked out well on the car, but this piece of info doesnt' make me feel very comfortable throwing down 20g's cash to a private seller I have lined up.
On the other hand, I am very interested in the Sonata, but given the 2011 MY is a new setup, I dont' feel very comfortable with a newly launched car.
Ultimatly I think the best solution is just to buy the MIL a crown Vic or Grand Marquis, but again, I'm preaching to the choir as the MIL STILL insists on a car comparable in fuel economy to the 2005 Focus.
Any advise/insight anyone can provide?
thanks in advance
