I'm working on snow white single-stage paint and trying to capture swirls and imperfections in the paint, but the color is fighting me.

Is there a "correct" lighting set up?

I just picked up a 4,500 lumen Craftsman LED work light for this purpose when I detailed my wife's white X5 (I was looking at the next cheaper light but it simply wasn't bright enough). I also wore a Scangrip I-View LED headlamp which was a great tool to have.
