P218F on my Ford PSD

DEF causes crystals to form inside the tank with no rhyme or reason as to why. I had an issue where it would not read the correct levels in the DEF tank and I had to take it in because it pushed me into "nanny mode" because the system thought that I was out of DEF even though the tank was full.

You are going to want to watch for that too so that you do not become ham-strung at an inopportune time/situation.

Welcome to the wonderful world of post-2007 diesels...

It is the nature of DEF to form crystals--it does not matter (more or less) where you buy it and large volumes of DEF at a truck stop do not guarantee there will not be issues (for clarity, I do not think that is the problem).

Has anyone considered using a scan tool to pulse the injector 4 times to clean it for prev maint? Before it gives the P218F. Maybe every 50K miles.
