Anybody able to shed some light on the difference between a silicone grease (such as commonly found in dielectric greases) vs a fumed silica thicked synthetic hydrocarbon (such as Nyogel 760g)? They seem basically interchangeable in my application (which is threaded and o-ring sealed, non-pressurized fittings). Does either offer any specific benefits assuming the o-ring is compatible (most typically a grade of nitrile)?
