I have a 10 or 15 year old Husqvarna lawn tractor and last August the steering would just click and not work unless it was a very mild turn. Replaced the following part (which was cracked) but the same thing today. It just clicks when I turn steering wheel unless a very mild turn. Maybe other parts need to be replaced also.

The part that was replaced did fix the problem for a few months of use.

Today was first usage of the lawn tractor this summer. I spent an hour cleaning out mouses nests under the cover of the engine after I noticed smoke. The lawn tractor still smells of mouse pee.

I remember your problem. I have replaced that particular part twice in the last 4-5 years. Mine never cracked but just got sloppy. It is plastic and could have cracked again for you. I know if it is installed incorrectly, it will rachet. Make sure the steering wheel guts are not doing the clicking. You might just want to listen to Rip cord and buy the whole assembly.
